Pono Home, Hawaii Energy and CleanTechnica present: The Electric Home Show

Meet the founder of Pono Home, Scott Cooney. He discusses energy efficiency and how to enroll in our free program in partnership with Hawaiʻi Energy and the Board of Water Supply.

He touches on our newest endeavor and partnership with CleanTechnica—the Electric Home Show on Saturday and Sunday, April 25th and 26th, 2026, at the Neil S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi.

Rain barrels installed to protect Hawaii’s reefs and reduce flooding

Watch our Oʻahu technician, Grant Herbert, install a rain barrel! In partnership with the non-profit organization, Mālama Maunalua, the City & County of Honolulu and 3R, Pono Home installed over 125 rain barrels in the four phases of the Rainwater Capture Incentive Program in an effort to protect Hawaiʻiʻs natural resources and to combat stormwater runoff. Grant is also National Green Infrastructure Certified by EnviroCert International.

The Rainwater Capture Incentive Program is led by Mālama Maunalua in collaboration with the City’s Department of Facility Maintenance, Pono Home, 3Rwater, and several community groups. The project is supported by the Wai Maoli: Hawaiʻi Fresh Water Initiative, Ulupono Initiative, and the Honolulu Board of Water Supply.

Meet the new CEO of Pono Home, Mike Vise. Since its founding in 2014, Pono Home has served over 15,000 households and small businesses, helping reduce electric and water bills by identifying power-draining appliances and providing solutions, such as free LED bulbs, for HECO, MECO, and HELCO customers. Some past partnerships include Hawaii Public Housing Authority, the Department of Hawaiian Homelands, Hawaiʻi Affordable Properties, and Kanu Hawaiʻi.

The service will include a free home energy audit along with retrofits, such as new LED lighting, high efficiency water fixtures and advanced power strips that save electricity and protect electronics, according to a statement.
