Backpackers Hostel, North Shore O’ahu
In summer 2015, Pono Home installed energy and water-saving fixtures at a vacation hostel on the North Shore of Oahu. Six months later, we evaluated the results from those installations and found the following results:

In spring 2015, Pono Home installed efficiency hardware and maintained large appliances at a 10 bedroom, 5 bath low-income senior living duplex in Kalihi, Hawaii, with the following results:

19 month average water usage reduction: 2,700 gallons, 18.01%
Same month energy reductions: 168.9 kWh
Same month water reduction: 3,000 gallons

Low-income Housing
In spring 2016, Pono Home completed a free home efficiency pilot program for renters and low-income families in partnership with Hawaii Energy.
12,572 home efficiency products were directly installed into 579 homes on the islands of O’ahu and Maui in this program, resulting in a statewide reduction of 485,548 kWh/year and an average estimated savings of $167,514.206 or $289 per home annually.
Schools
In summer 2016, Pono Home completed a pilot program at a Hawaii Department of Education elementary school on Oahu, which included education, survey research, and electronic hardware installations (timers and advanced power strips).
6 advanced power strips were installed, which will save an estimated 616.8 kWh per year or $195.96
2 PowerDown timers installed on water coolers, which will save an estimated 1576 kWh per year, or $500.70
51 9 watt (60 watt equivalent) LED lamps were delivered to teachers to use at home or in the classroom, and if they are used similar to a residential setting, will save 5472.74 kWh or $1738.69 per year
